Description

Hi there, the Cats' Protection League in Canterbury have been running the Feline Fix programme since July 2010 as we recognise that any desexing programme must be ongoing to get anywhere. We liken it to being the ambulance at the top of the cliff instead of the bottom.

If you have a low income and/or a community services card, have one or more cats that need to be desexed and cost is an issue, we want to hear from you! The costs are $20 for a male cat to be neutered and $40 for a female cat to be speyed and they need to be at least four months old. Don't worry if you have quite a few cats, we will discuss your situation with you and work out how much we need you to pay.

We are working with nine vets so will refer you to the vet that is closest to you. These vets are Vets for Pets on Worcester, Avonside Wainoni Vet Clinic, Rangiora West Vets, Straven Road Vet Centre, Hornby Veterinary Clinic, Vet Ent (Halswell, Lincoln and Leeston) and the Templeton Vet Hospital.

We want as many cats desexed as possible as there is a major cat problem in Canterbury, made worse by the earthquakes and red zones. We hope to reduce the number of kittens being born each year and also the devasting spread of feline aids and feline leukemia between fighting male cats.

Contact our office on 03-3810289, please leave a message if it goes to answerphone as it can be very busy and we only have one person answering the phone, or e-mail us your details to cplcats@xtra.co.nz.
