Reuniting More Lost Pets via Petsonthenet

Do you need support
entering ads?

We can help source a volunteer to manage your ads if you wish.
Please email Kim and we will match you with a volunteer

Ready to get started?! Simply register and start posting your SPCAs found pet ads.

To register
1) Go to our ads
2) Click the "register" text link on the green bar
3) Proceed with registration form making sure you fill in all boxes marked*.
Step by step registration instructions are on our FAQ (if needed)
Remember to choose a professional username that reflects you are an SPCA and which one
as this will show on every ad ie SPCA_CHCH or AKLSPCA etc (we can only have usernames up
to 12 characters, so you may need to abbreviate slightly!)

Posting ads
1) Once registered, you may post ads immediately. To log in, click "log in" on the green bar
on the ads. Remember to "log out" when you've completed your postings.
2) Select the section the ad is for i.e. Found Cats and follow your nose through the forms.
3) Title of ad. We recommend you use this type of format
City, suburb, brief description, SPCA village or card number
ie Auckland, Manurewa, black shorthaired female cat, SPCA VN 12345
4) Extra details. On the found pet ads we have optional boxes in which you can indicate the sex,
desex status, microchip status etc, there is also plenty of room in the main text box to add a much
more detailed description if need be
4) Adding a disclaimer. You may wish to copy and paste a pre set comment to each ad. This
is the current one used by the SPCA Auckland as an example.
   "
If you think this could possibly be your lost pet, please phone or visit the SPCA without delay,
stating SPCA VN number (Village Number) in the headline above. All animals entering the SPCA
are held for up to 7 days. After 7 days unclaimed, a stray animal may be rehomed by the SPCA, or
euthanised (animals may be euthanised earlier if they are severely injured or suffering etc.)

Please note that ages listed are estimated only and may not be the actual age of the animal
   listed

Auckland SPCA is at 50 Westney Rd, Mangere, ph 256 7300. Lost and found hours are
   between 10am to 4pm, 7 days"

5) Add an optional picture if you have one, the system will resize your picture AUTOMATICALLY
for you. You can also post a text only ad and add pictures later and edit your ad at any time of
course. NB. Very large pictures may time out our system resulting in a blank screen. When taking
pictures for petsonthenet it helps to set your digital camera down to a lower resolution, so the
image file is not so huge and your pictures will upload with no issue.

NOTE RE: LITTERS You don't need to enter a separate ad for each litter member, one ad is fine for the whole group.  Just put the main card number/village number in the title ie Mum if she is with them.

NOTE Saving time when posting multiple ads
Here's a time saving tip. Post your first ad and when posted successfully instead of starting again and clicking "place ad", save yourself a few screens by going "back" on your browser until you get back to the ad text page. Just overwrite the old title and text to save time and continue forwards again.

Remember to change categories if needed, it is easier to do it in species batches ie all your found cats, then found dogs etc. If you do put an ad in the "wrong" category ie cats into dogs etc, it is easily fixed!. See our FAQ on changing catgeories for help

Deleting ads
Log in. Go "my active ads" and click "delete" next to the ad you want to delete.

Editing ads
If you have a success story to share, please edit the ad instead of deleting it. It is easy to do as well. See our FAQ on editing ads.

Please post your free shelter ad too!
Please do post a general ad under the "Shelter" category telling people about your SPCA Centre. You have 300 words and this may be edited at any time if you wish. Please choose an ad duration of 365 days for this section. This ad acts as an "anchor" ad, so if you, or we,  wish to link to "all ads by this SPCA", we can link to that "permanent" ad, as your other ads will obviously be coming and going.

Feedback
We appreciate feedback on the success of your ads. One easy way to share this with us and the whole world is to edit your Found Pet ads and advise the pet was reunited, and if applicable advise it was via petsonthenet.co.nz. Please edit the ad to change the category from Found Pets to Success Stories. Or simply delete the ad.

PLEASE..! Do tell me if you notice something wrong,  a typo, something is not clear etc. I really would love your feedback on even the smallest detail. Tell me your wish list too! What else would you like to see/be able to do on petsonthenet?!
