Annual Scruffs
Dog Day Out
It was a hot, windy day and small, tired puppies
were eventually carried about the Scruffs Show
whilst the giant breed dogs seemed to be just about
carrying their owners.
Pedigree donated generous prizes and spot prizes
throughout the day with a carnival atmosphere in the
"judging ring". Some of the dogs loved the
doggy "parade" around the ring so much that they
continued to enter section after section just for
the walk! Consequently, there were many happy dogs
in the Saddest Dog competition...
Most Disobedient Dog was taken out by Gohan the Bull
Mastiff. His passion for eating handheld devices has
so far resulted in him crunching his way through 6
cellphones, 4 TV remotes, 2 business phones and one
residential phone..."He prefers 025
phones to 027..." laughs his owner.
Agility was a giggle as pooches put their people
through their paces rather than the other way
around. Dogs were lifted, pushed, coerced and conoodled through the fun
course as onlookers shared the fun. The dogs played
up to it all maybe thinking they were in the ring
for Best Trickster!
Run by the Ranui/Swanson Lions, funds from the event
are returned to the community.
