This month our very special volunteer Nichole,
was recognised by donatenz.com as their "Community Hero of the
Month". This recognition is well deserved by Nichole as it is she
who uploads all the SPCA Auckland "found pets" each week day to help
all of you with lost pets. That can be over 80 ads a day in the
busiest months of the year. Nichole has done this for over 3 years.
We nominated Nichole the instant we heard about this award, here's
what we wrote...
"Nichole has volunteered for
Pets
On The Net for more than three years. Every week day without
fail she uploads all the found pets from the Auckland SPCA to our
nationwide database. That can be easily up to 80 animals a
day...each needing their own separate ad posted on our "found pets".
This task can take her quite some time, even though she types fast!
She is the quiet human dynamo, always working away in the background
that keeps this free service humming along beautifully.
Nichole also fundraised to help us get a digital camera to
photograph found pets. She does all this as well as care for a large
family of young children, I don't know how she does it...!
We wish we could pay her for her help and we are SO GRATEFUL, as
without her, this free community service would not be so
comprehensive for those who have lost their beloved pets. Having
Auckland SPCA "founds' on site has saved owners AND the SPCA a lot
of time/resources so people can self search online instead of
ringing or visiting."
