Max (Maxi,
Mr Moo) |
|
|
 |
|
Mr Max our rescue boy, was rehomed twice in tragic
circumstances before he finally reached his forever home with us nearly
three years ago and "claimed" us for his own. His last years were so very
happy and he was definitely king of the castle, comfortable by the fire, or
lying in the sun by the French doors or in the garden He would wait for
Gavin to come home each day, seeming to know the sound of his car coming
down the road and escort him out to work in the mornings. Max was Kales
furry friend and the apple of little Chelseas eye, her "best friend" and
"cute boy". She fed you just this morning as she always does and an hour or
so later an embolism struck suddenly. Max lost the use of his back legs and
tail instantly. With his quality of life suddenly totally diminished (unable
to walk/toilet), the hard but obvious choice was to humanely help him cross
the rainbow bridge.
He is now back in the safe care of his best Mum, Marianne who no doubt
joyously welcomed him back at the rainbow bridge.

Mau-Mau

Mau-Mau
May 2004 - April 2005
|
|
Mau-mau
was tragically killed by a car on Wednesday 20th April. She
died instantly which is comforting and was still as beautiful as ever.
As
a kitten, she was abandoned by her mother. Left under a house with her
little brothers and sisters to die.
Maumau,
being the little fighter that she was decided to dig her way out from
under the house, and did so, only to be taken by the house owner to the
vet to be put down. The vet could not find it in her heart to put her
down, not after her brave fight for survival, and so, the team at the
Hellensville vet clinic began to nurse her back to health. You name it,
she had it. Ringworm, lice, the flu, conjunctivitis, everything. She was
the sickest and most frightened cat you’d ever seen.
|
|
As
fate puts it I ended up adopting her and becoming the mother she never
had. $600 in vet bills and about 6 weeks later, she was the healthiest
little kitten you had ever seen. She was extremely loyal to me, and was my
special baby. She became my shadow, following me everywhere around the
house, always insisting on being the absolute center of attention. She was
a little fusspot, only drinking from a glass and she loved to finish my
cereal in the mornings. She picked up my cleaning antics from a very young
age, sweeping up her spilt kitty litter into little piles for me. When I
would play my piano she would run in from outside and lie down next to me
to listen.
She
taught me how to love and open my heart and gave me a fondness for cats I
had not previously known. The year she had was a good one, abundant with
love, cuddles and snuggles. It helps me to know the last thing I said to
her before she ran outside to play was “you are my beautiful princess
and I love you so much”. Even after the accident she looked peaceful and
beautiful. She was buried in a cosy little bed with her little tigger.
I wish like anything it didn’t happen and would do anything to bring her
back, but as they say, everything happens for a reason. I like to think of
her as my little angel, sent to me for just one year. A year I will never
forget. Thank you Maumau.
A
little follow up on my story. Last night (Monday 25th April) a
little black and white cat about the same age as Mau-Mau walked into my
lounge, jumped onto my lap and started purring and fell asleep. It was so
strange! It then went on to sleep on my bed, arranging my mink blanket
around it to be all snug and then slept right through until this morning.
I have never seen anything like it! I think it was her friend, looking for
Mau-mau to go out and play, then decided it was warm and stayed in for the
night. I hope it finds its way home.

Mi-Mu
|
|
|
Dearest
Mi-Mu,
You
came to us as a cute little kitten around September 1991. Shortly
after we got you, I had to go overseas for 7 months. It was a pity
that I totally missed your kitten hood, and I thought you would not
remember me after I had been away for so long. But surprisingly, the
day I came home, you came straight to me like I had never been away.
From that moment, I knew we had a special bond that could never be broken.
You had beautiful blue eyes, and luckily,
you were not deaf like what people say about white cats with blue eyes.
You liked talking, and always seemed to be answering our questions!
You never had a cat door to use until you were nine, but it didn’t take
you long to learn (although you did pretend that you didn’t know how to
use it when I was around so I would open the door for you!).
On 2 August 2000, you became Pet of the Week on Bays and Remuera Times.
People were amazed to see that you would have three live mice on your back
and not try to eat them!.
I
loved your cute way of cleaning yourself. You lied on the bed,
licking one hand while using the other to clean your ear - you were a cat
who knew what multi-tasking is! I loved sleeping in bed with you.
Very often you walked up to me in the middle of the night and started
purring.
Just recently you liked it more and more to sleep on my chest, and if I
felt too heavy and turned sideways, you would not give up – you then
sleep on my arm even though it was a very narrow space. You were a
cat with determination, too!
Here is some more proof! When Chuffy & Biggles first died,
I was so scared about the outside world and I kept you and Buffy in the
house all the time. You were so determine to get out that you broke
a whole on the insect screen and got out. So I kept that window
shut. Then you figured out how to open the cat door from inside!
I would not have believed it if I didn’t catch you doing that myself!
So the cat door had to be locked both ways. Luckily you didn’t
come up with anymore ways to escape. However, when I finally let you
out during the day, you decided that you would make the most of it and
quite often not come home till it was very late at night, even midnight.
You
were my most expensive cat! As a white cat with pink ears and nose,
you got skin cancer easily and you needed operations. That was how
you ended up with one ear only – half on each side! And you had
all sorts of non-life threatening sickness from time to time. You
just turned thirteen on 26/7/04, and a sudden
illness took you away from me in only five days on 3/8/04. I thought
you were going to pull through this time too. When the vet rang to
say that you had passed away peacefully overnight, I couldn’t believe my
ears
After
Chuffy and Biggles died, whenever I called their names, you would come to
me, rubbing your head against me, meowing, like you were trying to comfort
me. Now you are gone, when I call your name, who’s going to
comfort me?
Mi-Mu, thank you so much for the thirteen wonderful years we had
together. I keep thinking about the games we liked to play, and the
things we liked to do, and wish that we could do it just one more time.
I know you were not impressed with me having all the other babies
(especially the dog) in the family, but let mummy assure you again:
you always had (and still have) a special place in my heart. My love
for you never lessened because of the new babies.
My
good baby little girl, it’s hard to let you go. You know you will
live in my heart forever. Rest in peace with Chuffy and Biggles,
until the day we all meet again.
Miss
You Deeply
Mummy

On 02.02.03 Maxi
passed
away at
the grand ole age of around 16 years.
A real lil fighter she was but as all ways
old age caught up with her.
Just over a year since Chelsea passed away.
All I can say is they had a good life and we will miss the Black girl
hanging round as she mellowed in her later years and became quite
chatty and ended up getting the last word in and became a lap cat.
She was great to have around during the days I have been off work. Gonna
leave a big void round here as Chelsea did.

Madeline - Lilac Point Siamese
Graced with her presence on 27-9-98, saddened by her loss on 10-6-2.
I
think about you often and ache for all those things that were so
uniquely you – those special cuddles and kisses, how you warmed your
cold paws on my warm skin, that adoring way you could get me to do
as you pleased, and so, so much more. But when this loss and grief
evolves, I know I’ll be left with a heart full of love and gratitude,
because you blessed my life by sharing yours. You will always be my very
special Maddie. Katherine.
