Lucy - My Dearest Friend

I adopted Lucy from the SPCA on Boxing Day 2002. I've always had cats all my life and at that point of time was wanting the company of another furry friend.

She had to be a female, she had to be Black & White - don't ask me why but that was one of the kinds I had never owned. She was the last one left that met my criteria at SPCA - guess she had to be mine.

From the day I bought her home she was spoilt, and like a child had everything she wanted. Any hint of illness, she was rushed off to the vet. She's probably cost me $2500 in
3 years, but every cent worth spending. Thank goodness for Pet Insurance - but I only took it up 12 months ago.

From a young age she got herself into mischief with the other cats in the neighbourhood, but guess that caught up with her too. By the time she was 2 she needed to be stitched up twice - on two different occasions - obviously catching herself squeezing through small gaps running away from the others. So at such a young age she endured so much.

She was a fussy eater, really only preferring biscuits, and extremely determined when came to administering medication which happened regularly during the 3 years. She was quite demanding, and always wanting my attention, biting me if I didn't give her any - clawing at the furniture - but awwwwww I still loved her unconditionally - she was so human, and she
hated me going off to work.

Sadly 6 months ago, Lucy and I had to move to a new house and she couldn't get use to being on her own. Two and a half Months ago she developed a Urinary Tract Disease that wouldn't respond to any treatment - the vet and I tried everything. I even tried rescue remedy to relax her but no she constantly wanted to go to the toilet and go anywhere, anytime. But I couldn't growl at her, it was beyond her control and she was soooo special.

She was a real mummies girl and I couldn't have wished for anything else - her personality was so like a human and we had a special understanding between each other.

It was the hardest decision I ever had to make to have her put to sleep and pretty distraughting - but I didn't want her to lose her dignity and it was no quality life for her. I miss her terribly, it's lonely without her, and I only hope she doesn't hate me.

Lucy - my darling - I love you with all my heart and will never stop loving you - you were my baby buba and I promise to take care of teddy for you.
