Garfield Most amazing cat and loved "Monkey" of Mum, Dad and Jessie
George & Thomas Will forever hold a special place in the heart of the Ardnt family
Giles Much missed friend of Andrea, Colin, Esk and Geek of Auckland.
  Garfield (Monkey)

Garfield (Monkey)We will never forget the day I picked up this 1.6kg kitten from the pet shop, the moment you lay your eyes on me you wouldn’t stop crying.  We then bought you home to meet your big sister Jessie, you were the only cat that Jessie loved and she loved you very much all those times she made sure no other dogs would hurt you.

Garfield or better known as Monkey you were always climbing trees and getting into anything that was big enough to fit you, over the years boxes, the sink, the bath, cupboards, drawers, Dads boat, lettertrays, even the dryer.

We will miss you waking us up at 5.00am every morning for breakfast and the cuddles on the bed when you came home.  Dad will especially miss making you tunnels every day to hide in and playing peek a boo before bed each night and of coarse you insisting on having tuna every morning.   Mum misses you helping make the bed doing the gardening and just been an amazing little mate.

Garfield (Monkey)You were the most amazing cat in the world, we enjoyed all the holidays with you they are some of our fondest memories.  Not many cats can say they spent there holidays with 3 other cousin dogs.

You were taken so suddenly from us, your have left a very large gap in our lives, we all pray that we will meet again.

Our baby Garfield, we still can’t believe you are gone.  We wish we could have spent many more years together, we will love you forever you will never be forgotten.

Love Mum, Dad and Jessie.

  George and Thomas
George and Thomas, soulmates asleep.George and Thomas (brothers of Titus and Thomasina).

We had a lovely year with the beautiful kittens we acquired in January 2003, 6 months after the death of our faithful 15 year old cat Shanan.

Little black Thomasina/Squirrel (renamed from "Thomas" when she turned out to be a girl) was small with a very bushy tail and a little timid but an amazing climber, expert hunter and very sweet-tempered.

Little Titus was pure white with green eyes in a very handsome face and with a warm, affectionate, good-natured personality - he came home with a broken pelvis one day when he was 8 months old and endured a month in a recuperation cage with characteristic good humour before making a full recovery.

The two were an inseparable duo who romped and slept together and brought us much delight.  Then Thomasina went missing in December, to our distress.  Titus was so lonely without her, so we went looking for another playmate for him.

George and Thomas "mid game"! So, two special kittens came into our lives in Jan 2004 - beautiful
little ginger George whom we fell instantly in love with through the pet
shop window, and a feisty little black & smoke "female" given to us by
our son the same night we saw George.  Originally named Mocha Bella for
her colouring and the bell round her neck, "she" turned out to be a boy
- as the gender confusion was the reverse of that with Thomasina, we
renamed him Thomas (meaning "twin").

We brought George home from the pet shop the next day and the two new little kittens became inseparable from the instant they met, also getting on well with our Labrador Sam, and with good-natured Titus doing his best to adopt them both.

George's personality was as beautiful as his appearance - cute, funny, playful
and seemingly made of elastic, falling asleep in front of the fire in many a crazy posture.  He was also extremely loving and affectionate - purring loudly the moment he was touched.  We could always tell which cat was George on our bed.  A very social cat, he quickly endeared himself to all who met him.

Then 3 months later, in April 2004, a second heartbreak when our beloved Titus went missing - he was such a
beautiful cat and we miss him still.  After his disappearance we found out about Pets on the Net and put name tags on George and Thomas, who had now become even more special to us.

Then tragedy struck at the end of June - the phone call from a kind-hearted motorist to say he'd found George on the road just after he'd been hit by a car.  We're so glad we were able to be with him so soon after.  We hoped at first he'd be ok but an x-ray confirmed a hopelessly broken and displaced spine and all we could do was make the agonising decision to put him out of his pain and paralysis - at least we could hold him in our arms as he peacefully departed.  He was only 7 months old but left such a hole in our hearts as we buried him in our garden.

George and Thomas - foodtime with big brother, Titus Thomas missed him so much - not long after George's death, he got sick with a mystery virus and went down to skin and bone.  We thought we'd lose him too but he slowly started to recover, turning into a healthy cat with an impressive beautifully coloured fluffy coat, but not as feisty as before.

As our only remaining cat, he became very precious to us - becoming a devoted companion who slept nearly every night on our bed and full of affection and fun. He seemed on our "wavelength" -
within moments of a thought wondering where he was he would appear, with the little bell around his neck announcing his arrival to put our minds at ease, and "talking" to us as he ran inside in the day, or up the stairs and onto our bed if it was night.

We loved him so much.  Then came the terrible moment on our son's birthday in Feb 2005 when a kind cyclist phoned an hour after Thomas had left our bed for his usual dawn prowl to say she'd found him just after he'd been killed on the road - in exactly the same spot as George 7 months before.  No chance to say goodbye, but we're glad that only the night before we'd told him how much we loved him. There's a special little row in our garden now, with Shanan, George, Henry (our son's lovely little ginger persian killed elsewhere by a car in September) and now Thomas.  Other cats have come into our lives since - one adopted from the SPCA and three more being "fostered" - but George, Thomas, Titus and Thomasina will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

  Giles
Giles...   Dear Giles,
You came into our lives in December, and left in May, we all enjoyed your company,
more than you can know.

You brought with you, many, many happy days (and many happy sleepless nights).

You were taken from us so suddenly, we don't know what to do with ourselves.

We miss you so much, it hurts inside.

Rest awhile, we'll meet again.

Andrea, Colin, Esk, Geek.
Mum, Dad, Sister, Brother.
