Be a pet detective. How to find a lost pet, or reunite a found pet Whilst there is a keyword search and also an Advanced Search (which includes a Regional Search) on our online lost and found pet database, the Google search above will bring up all current ads that match as well as recently expired or deleted ads, so it's a way of searching in "archive" mode. Please keep in mind that Google seems to keep "cached" copies of expired or deleted listings for approximately 3-4 months after the ad expires or is deleted.

I found a current matching ad
Good, please contact the advertiser via the phone number/s listed on the ad, or by logging in and replying to their ad by email.

I found a possibly matching ad, but it is expired or deleted
If you find a potentially matching ad but when you click on the link a message comes up saying "
Not enough information to display the listing. This may be due to the listing's expiration" - take note of the five (or from Oct 11 2013 onwards, six) digit Petsonthenet ad number and contact the Petsonthenet team. The ad number may be on the Google summary, it is also the last FIVE (or SIX) digits of the hyperlink you clicked on to see that message i.e. http://www.petsonthenet.co.nz/ads/index.php?a=2&b=XXXXXXX . Once we have the five (or six) digit Petsonthenet ad number we can then look up the ad number on our admin database and endeavour to give more information and put you in touch with the advertiser. Please advise us your contact details, so that we can get the advertiser to contact you back as due to privacy we cannot give contact details once an ad is expired/deleted as it is no longer information published in the public domain.

Why five or six digit ad numbers?
As of October 11 2013, we had so many ads that we rolled over from five digit ad numbers i.e. 9,999 to six digit ad numbers i.e. 100001. So all ads posted prior to this date will be five digit ad numbers and all NEW ads posted after this date will be six digit ad numbers. Ads can conceivably be renewed for months or years, so it is possible we will continue to have 5 digit ad numbers still on the website for some years to come until those ads are "resolved"
