Cats
Protection League (CPL) Wellington
|
The Cats
Protection League (Wgtn) Inc was set up
about 20 years ago and was modelled on the UK Cats
Protection League. From small beginnings
behind the Penthouse Theatre in the Wellington
suburb of Brooklyn, the league has mushroomed to
two Shelters in the greater Wellington area and
often has up to 300 cats in its care.
The league is a purely
voluntary organisation funded by membership dues,
fund raising and legacies.
A team of volunteers feeds and cleans the Shelters
twice daily and cats are rehomed from the
Shelters. The League also has a number of timid
and older cats that require special homes, so is
always on the look out for people caring and
willing to take on a special needs creature.
The league also has a
range of sociable, pre-owned cats and many kittens
in the summer months. Most of the cats that
come into the league have come from a home
situation where for one reason or another the home
has had to give up its cat. This may be the result
of the family going overseas; relationship
breakdown; allergies etc.
We are always looking
for loving homes for our wonderful creatures and
you can visit our website at http://www.cpl-wellington.org.nz
We think petsonthenet
runs a wonderful, much needed service. The
emotional needs of people who have lost their dear
ones has not been adequately catered for up until
now. We think this service goes a long way towards
addressing that deficiency. Keep it up guys

Fenella Bovett
CPL Wellington
Pets on the Net gives
our "Good Pet People Award" to Fenella Bovett and the
CPL.
Awarded In recognition of
Fenella and the CPL's hard work in caring for cats,
their fantastic website produced by volunteers and for
Fenella's constant trawling of our database to help
match lost and found cats.
This resulted in a successful match for a cat that had
been missing for six weeks and was in the care of the
Cats Protection League (unbeknownst to his owner until
she placed an ad on petsonthenet.co.nz.)
Fenella saw the ad the next day (New Years Eve -yes she
was still "working"!) and the cat was reunited with his
grateful owner.
