Some Animal Control organisations pick up cats as well as dogs, so it pays to
check if your local one caters for cats too. Animal
Control (otherwise known as the Pound) is run through your local council.
WARNING: Animal Control will impound a stray for a period of seven days.
After which time, they could be euthanised or re-homed. Please call Animal
Control frequently to ensure this doesn't happen to your pet.

(Remember
there are other council areas in greater Auckland including Manukau,
Waitakere, North
Shore, Rodney, Papakura and
Franklin. It is worth checking
them ALL as your dog might be at any one of them. Luckily, it is a bit
easier in that Waitakere and North Shore share facilities and physical
locations.)
