Doc has a great new home and left today to start his new life, after 3 weeks in the pound. Big thanks to Wendy & family for adopting Doc and to Ruapehu Pound staff for keeping Doc those extra 2 weeks. Thanks POTN & Anne for your support of the Ruapehu dogs.

Doc is a little heading dog or X. He is very friendly and a nice little chap. he would probably love to learn agility. Sorry I have no further information about him. If you are interested in Doc, the best thing to do is to come and meet him. He is located in Taumarunui which is an easy and scenic 2 hour drive south of Hamilton. Weekend adoptions/visits are no problem. Doc must be adopted straight from the pound, as ARAN has no facilities to accommodate the number of dogs we are being confronted with. With the pound full, Doc is on a limited time and will be euthanased if a home cannot be found for him.

Ruapehu District Council pound staff care about the dogs and try hard to rehome and help ARAN with rehoming as much as possible. However, the dogs keep coming and so they very reluctantly have to take dogs to the vets for euthanasia if they cannot find good homes within 14 days. These dogs can be fostered, but ARAN does not have the funds to register & microchip each dog as it leaves the pound (as required by RDC), nor to vaccinate or support dogs in foster. So fostering is only possible if a volunteer is prepared to meet these costs.

Cost to adopt is $20 part year registration and $37 microchipping. ARAN also has a strict desexing agreement and asks for a "good dog owner" reference, ie a contact for your family vet or a similar person who can vouch for you.

Listing by ARAN - Animal Rescue Action Network rehoming dogs in the Ruapehu District.
