  • Atticus home happy and safe!

Description

Thanks to the helpful advice of Kim and team we managed to find Atticus after 3 days. We followed Kim's expert advice on our timid "fur son" and had a successful mail drop within our local area. Within hours of our first mail drop we had a confirmed sighting which led to us finding our scared wee boy within 48 hours. We can't thank Kim and the team enough for their help and empathy.

Thank you!

Again I can’t thank you and your team enough for helping us in our time of distress!

As it turns out we found him on the other side of Memorial Ave. As the crow flies it was probably less than 100 metres but it was enough that he couldn’t find his way home. You were indeed correct that he was very scared and even us walking the neighbourhood for 3 days and calling out to him didn’t prompt him out of his hiding place. We must of passed the same place multiple times but because he was so spooked he wouldn’t come out. We mail dropped on the Wednesday and Thursday night throughout the surrounding areas and it was during our mail drop on Thurs night that we received our first sighting at 25 Arlington Street. We left a t shirt with at the house by their letterbox as a scent marker for Atticus and this prompted two more sightings by the residents but he ran off both times when they tried to approach him. He only made appearances at night and it was at 0300 on Saturday morning when we were doing another circuit through the neighbourhood that we heard him. He still had his collar on with the little bell and it was this we heard thank goodness. When my husband went to approach him he scampered for the nearest bushes and hid and it was only after slowly approaching him that he came out. He was quite timid but once we had him in our arms he was all purrs! We think he was trying to make his way home again but was deterred by the road and couldn’t figure out how to get across due to his fear of cars.

We took him to the vet in the morning and the vet mentioned that it appeared that he had suffered some form of trauma to his hind legs, his back claws were all shredded but no broken bones found just bruising.

Thinking about it we think he was chased by a dog as there are often people out walking their dogs at the time of the morning that he went missing.

However, he is now safely home and affectionate as ever!
