Description

Antoinette, we did it! All seven of your cats have now been rehomed. Happily all the cats that needed to stay together are still together. Three were rehomed via Petsonthenet in the end Willow, GinGin and Buba and the others through personal connections to people who knew Antoinette including her brother who adopted Max.

Huge thanks to all who helped, Jill for placing the initial listings on Petsonthenet, Raewyn and Marion for fostering the cats once Antoinette passed away and who went to see Antoinette in her last days and whispered in her ear that we would help to rehome all of her cats so she could be peaceful and pass away safe in the knowledge that her cats would be safe and taken care of....

Thank you also to Beck Eleven, journalist and just a lovely person and great writer, who brought this into the media with her article.

Thank you to all adopted the cats! Thank you to all who shared and helped in so many ways.

We said we would all do it, we PROMISED we would do it and we did not rest, any of us, until it was done like we said it would be. It was a huge team effort.

This has been the bittersweet highlight of the year being able to help grant you this last wish...

Our job here is now done, may you rest in peace dear Antoinette.

Purrs and light to you.

Sadly Antoinette has now passed away... We now have only GinGin and Wilow left to rehome of the seven cats originally.
Willow and GinGIn need to be adopted together please. If you are interested in GinGin and Willow, then please phone Marion on
03 942 8989 rather than email as Marion does really use email, phoning will be much better, thank you so much.

Willow is a small timid wee cat she will allow being patted but not being picked up, she has a easy going nature when it comes to other cats but like all cats it takes time, she is playful and always initiates play with one of the others Gingin, until of course things get of hand, a bit to rough then she's off to sulk behind the curtain.Willow is a night owl, she does not like going out side during the day, just sleeps, she is no trouble at all with other cats, she is wary of people because like the other 6 I rescued them when they were already 2-3 months old and they had not been handled. antoinettevanberkel@gmail.com not suited with children or dogs.

From Jill Broadhurst ( for Antoinette)
"...My friend Antoinette has been a cat rescuer for many years. She has rescued, neutered and re homed many cats and kittens at her own expense. Unfortunately Antoinette has now been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Her only concern is that she can find loving homes for her beloved cats. She has seven of them. We would be most grateful if some kind people out there would consider giving her babies a new home. Antoinette is happy for me to give her phone number so she can discuss each cat with anyone who calls. If anyone would like to help this lovely lady and provide a homes for any of her babies, please call her on 03 965 3578 Christchurch. All the cats are spayed, neutered and microchipped. All of these cats have been rescued from bad situations and are special needs cats. Some more than others, so they need Patience and understanding. The cats may be viewed. Please contact Antoinette."
