About Max and Rastus
|
Max
Corkill and his beloved black cat,

Rastus were well known to New
Zealanders and people all around the world. For years they rode
as a team with Rastus firmly ensconced on the front of Max's
motorbike wearing his trademark helmet and red spotted scarf. At
Christmas this was replaced with antlers endearing Rastus to the
hearts of many.
Rastus, adopted by Max as a kitten at a swap meet, loyally followed
him every day of his life - even onto his motorbike...
Six months prior to their deaths, Max found a new love to share his
life, Gaynor Martin. They happily travelled New Zealand's roads
together with Rastus until the sudden

accident that took them all...
On 20th January 1998, Max, Rastus and Gaynor were tragically killed
in a road accident doing what they loved - riding their motorbikes
together.
Five years later and quietly behind the scenes friends and family
have been working to keep their memories alive, selling memorabilia
to support Max's favourite charity, the SPCA. This site marks the
five year anniversary of their deaths. We welcome your comments,
stories, memories and tributes for Max, Gaynor and Rastus. Contact maxandrastus@petsonthenet.co.nz
